Mechanism Protects Domestic Violence Victims
August 14, 2022[For Women of China] |
To improve cooperation among the various departments that handle domestic violence cases, Ba'nan, a district in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, established a working mechanism that involves 10 departments. The court, 28 police stations and 23 grassroots women's federations in Ba'nan have used a chat group on social media to share information and take action quickly when a domestic violence case has occurred.
The Ba'nan district's court has facilitated applications for personal protection orders by using the e-court system of Chongqing. Police officers and/or cadres of women's federations can help victims upload their application forms and evidence — including identity documents, medical-treatment records and text messages — to the e-court system. The e-court can examine the evidence and issue a personal protection order within 20 minutes. During the past six years, the Ba'nan district's court has helped protect the legal rights and interests of nearly 900 women or children, by issuing and enforcing personal protection orders.
